About Me — My Path Into Technology
How a childhood fascination became a career
Where It All Began
My passion for technology began long before I ever touched a professional system. In the early 2000s, my grandfather’s colleague introduced me to a Windows 95 computer at his workplace — a machine filled with video games that instantly captured my imagination. That experience changed everything. From that moment on, I was fascinated by computers, and this fascination never faded.
A few years later, in the late 2000s, I received my first own computer from my grandmother, running Windows XP. I spent countless hours immersed in single-player games and online “neveldék,” raising digital pets. Later, MMORPGs — especially Metin2 — opened an entirely new world for me. Eventually I wasn’t just playing the game: I was operating my own private server, renting a FreeBSD machine, configuring the environment, and learning firsthand how systems behaved when I controlled them. By then, I was already building and upgrading my own computers, experimenting tirelessly.

Early Struggles & Choosing My Path
Despite this enthusiasm, my school years didn’t start smoothly. Video games often distracted me from studying, and my grades in elementary school weren’t promising. For a while, I truly feared that my dream of working in IT might slip away — especially after being admitted to a business-focused secondary school rather than a technical one. But this became a turning point. I realized that Metin2 and World of Warcraft wouldn’t determine my future — my dedication would. I began studying seriously, improving my results year after year, and eventually earned the chance to transfer into one of Hungary’s top IT high schools, specifically into a programming-focused class.
It was there that I discovered something fundamental about myself: although I respected programming, I never wanted to become a full-time software developer. What truly motivated me was understanding how systems run, how infrastructures come together, and how to improve, optimize, and maintain them efficiently. I was far more drawn to operations, structure, and problem-solving than writing software from scratch.
My First Job: IT Field Service
My first professional role confirmed this direction. I worked in IT Field Service, configuring and maintaining the entire IT infrastructure of restaurants such as KFC, Starbucks and PizzaHut. I handled POS systems, manager computers, office workstations, and network devices — both remotely and on-site. I assisted staff, managed installations, performed customization, monitored inventory, handled access management, and essentially built ground-level IT environments from scratch. This job gave me hands-on experience with networking, hardware, system setup and real-world operational challenges — a foundation that proved invaluable later in my career.
Database Administration
From there, I transitioned into database operations, managing complex MSSQL environments, optimizing performance, handling migrations, maintaining high availability clusters, and supporting large enterprise workloads. SQL work naturally expanded into NoSQL platforms like Cassandra and Redis, and later into distributed streaming systems such as Apache Kafka, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect and MirrorMaker2. With each step, the pattern became clearer: I was always drawn to reliability, scale, and the invisible architecture that keeps systems running.
As repetitive tasks grew in number, I began automating them — first out of necessity, then out of passion. What started as simple scripts evolved into full workflows. Python, Bash, Ansible and other tools opened the door to a broader world: automation as an engineering discipline. And this ultimately led me into DevOps.
Nowadays…
Today, my work revolves around cloud-native automation, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift, designing deployment processes, validating complex automation pipelines, optimizing tooling and supporting platform lifecycles. My background in SQL, NoSQL, messaging systems and infrastructure allows me to understand the full stack — and my commitment to automation helps me turn that understanding into scalable, reliable solutions.
Through every step — from childhood games on Windows 95, to building my own servers, to field service work, database operations, distributed systems and Kubernetes — the core motivation has always been the same:
Understand how systems work.
Make them better.
And automate everything that makes sense.
My inspiration
What matters most isn’t what we collect, but what we create — the impact we leave behind after each day.
“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.” – Steve Jobs
